Open Medicine is a global, open-access platform for clinicians, grounded in transparency, independence and trust. We prioritize verified medical voices, unbiased content and the free exchange of ideas to support better clinical decision making.
Together, these principles ensure a high-quality, respectful environment focused on advancing patient care.
Open access for everyone. All doctors -- regardless of country, religion, gender, language or other criteria -- will have full access to Open Medicine for the benefit of doctors, patients and other stakeholders.
Verified physicians only. Open Medicine will only allow posts from verified physicians, researchers and other accredited or licensed healthcare professionals. All posts shall be publicly identifiable and non-anonymous.
Freedom of expression. In the US and other countries, we continue to experience societal, regulatory and other pressures to restrict free speech. Freedom of expression and speech is a core and inviolable principle of Open Medicine.
Transparency. We believe transparency is a key to our success. This encompasses finance, legal, policy and all matters relating to Open Medicine.
No pharma bias. Under no circumstances may pharma influence or attempt to influence our content, strategy or operations. Open Medicine shall not allow any pharma or other commercial content including but not limited to advertisements, editorials or sponsorships.
No Dickheads. This is derived from the All Blacks New Zealand rugby team and is a mantra of our leadership team. The success of the All Blacks comes from their team-first ethos. The "No Dickheads" philosophy ensures their team is grounded and prevents the team from being seduced by talented divas who don't fit in with their non-negotiable principle of whanau, which translates to: "Our Family, Our Friends, Our Tribe."
Open Medicine is committed to open access, trusted expertise, transparency and independence from commercial influence. By upholding these principles, we aim to create a credible, respectful platform that supports clinicians and improves patient care.
